Private Duty Nursing: A Meaningful Path for New Graduate Nurses
Graduating from nursing school is a huge accomplishment, but it often comes with a big question: “What’s next?” For many new graduate nurses, the traditional path leads straight into hospital floors or long-term care facilities. But there’s another rewarding option that offers deep personal impact, flexibility, and hands-on experience: private duty nursing.
What is Private Duty Nursing?
Private duty nursing (PDN) involves providing one-on-one medical care to patients – often children or adults with complex medical needs – in their homes. Unlike a hospital setting where nurses manage multiple patients, private duty nurses develop close relationships with their patients and their families. This continuity allows for more personalized, compassionate care.
