When a child is receiving care at CHOC, everything changes for a family.

Recently, our Team Select Laguna Hills team had the opportunity to support those families in a meaningful way by volunteering at Ronald McDonald House Orange County and helping create moments of comfort during a difficult time.

Care does not stop at the hospital; it extends into the communities and homes where families need it most.

Providing a Home Away From Home

For families with children receiving treatment at CHOC, having a place to rest nearby can make all the difference.

Ronald McDonald House Orange County provides a true “home away from home,” offering comfort, care, and support to families while their child receives medical treatment.

Located just steps from CHOC, the House allows families to stay close during critical moments and helps remove barriers so they can focus on their child’s healing journey.

Why We Serve: The Heart of the Laguna Hills Team

Our time at RMHC reinforced something we see every day in home health care.

When a child has complex medical needs, the entire family is affected. Being able to step into that environment, even briefly, highlights how important strong community support systems truly are.

  1. Community Matters: Programs like RMHC help families stay close during critical moments
  2. Local Impact: Serving Orange County means showing up beyond clinical care
  3. Shared Mission: Supporting families at every stage of their journey

Bridging the Gap: From Hospital to Home

Experiences like this highlight something we are closely connected to in our daily work.

As a provider supporting families across Laguna Hills and Orange County, Team Select often works with families transitioning from hospital care to home health services. CHOC itself offers a wide range of pediatric specialty services that support children through complex medical conditions, which makes continuity of care essential when families return home.

We see firsthand the strength it takes to navigate these journeys and the importance of having the right support system in place.

Our Laguna Hills team provides:

  1. Private Duty Nursing (RNs and LPNs): One-on-one skilled care for medically complex children and adults
  2. Pediatric Specialty Care: Supporting children with long-term medical needs at home
  3. Adult Home Health Support: Helping individuals maintain independence and quality of life
  4. Respite Care: Giving families time to rest while ensuring continuity of care

Whether supporting a transition home or giving back through community service, the focus remains the same; putting families first.

Jennifer Kasama Director of Operations
I have working in home health since 2011, when I started as a recruiter after graduating college. I quickly loved being able to help families during difficult times and provide them relief by finding staffing. I have had the honor of serving many grateful families, and so many of their stories have stayed with me, driving why what we do is so important and meaningful. After holding several different roles and navigating insurance coverage for countless families, I am extremely passionate about helping families navigate insurance and healthcare, taking a consultative approach to make sure families receive the best care and customer service possible. Personally, I am from the orange county area. After going to school and working in San Diego for several years, I returned back to the area in 2014. I am a proud wife and mama of one spunky 2.5 year old girl and one fur baby.
