In 2025, the celebration runs from October 19–25. It began in 1982, when President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation honoring the vital role of respiratory care professionals.
Each year, the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) provides hospitals and health organizations with toolkits, graphics, and ideas to help recognize these heroes and promote lung health across communities.
