At Team Select Home Care, our mission extends beyond providing exceptional care; we are dedicated to advocating for the families we serve. Recently, our VP of Government Relations, Bill Sczepanski, visited the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City to meet with legislators and discuss the FCCA (Family Complex Care Assistant) funding bill. These discussions are crucial to ensuring medically complex children receive the care they need, especially through Private Duty Nursing (PDN) services.

The Importance of Private Duty Nursing in Missouri

Families caring for medically fragile children rely on Private Duty Nurses (PDNs) to provide in-home, skilled care that keeps their children safe and thriving outside of a hospital setting. These highly trained nurses offer ventilator and tracheostomy care, g-tube management, seizure monitoring, and more; supporting families 24/7 to ensure their children receive the best possible care.

However, access to PDN services is often limited due to funding constraints, workforce shortages, and policy challenges. That’s why advocacy is so important. By working with legislators to support funding initiatives like the FCCA bill, we can help ensure that more families in Missouri including those in St. Louis and surrounding counties such as St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin, and St. Claire have access to the skilled nursing care their children deserve.

Supporting Missouri’s Nurses and Families

Missouri has an incredible community of dedicated nurses who are passionate about home care. Our Team Select Home Care office in St. Louis is committed to supporting them with the resources, training, and opportunities they need to continue making a difference. But for nurses to provide this critical care, there must be sustainable funding and policies in place to support them.

Advocacy efforts like Bill’s visit to the State Capitol are essential in ensuring the voices of families, nurses, and home care providers are heard. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside policymakers to drive meaningful change and improve access to home-based care for Missouri’s most vulnerable children.

Join Us in Making a Difference
